Loving Life In Las Vegas

Las Vegas is one of the most beautiful places I've lived. Every time I look at the Spring Mountains, they take my breath away. There are plenty of wholesome, enjoyable activities in Las Vegas; you just need to know where to look. I've featured some of my favorites here.

The Las Vegas Farmer's Market
It's hard to find farm-fresh food in the desert, but it's not impossible! The Saturday morning Farmer's Market at Tivoli is wonderful. There's a wide variety of produce and goods available at the three markets a week. Growers from Nevada, CA and Utah come in with produce (the green beans, strawberries and blueberries are to die for!). Getting to know the people who produce our food is a deep reminder that the choices we make every day impact our lives and the health of the planet. And the produce is all very, very good, which makes it an easy, healthy indulgence. It's worth every penny. Support organic family farms and local artisans by shopping at the farmer's market.

The Spring Mountains
The Spring Mountains offer a beautiful, peaceful, refreshing get away from Las Vegas. I love watching the play of light and shadow on them, they are constantly changing. The mountains are simply spectacular; seeing them every day renews my sense of connection to nature and the cycle of the seasons. Here are some links to Red Rock canyon and hiking maps of the Spring Mountains.

Yoga
I practice yoga, in addition to getting acupuncture treatments (so I do take in what I dish out!). have found that the practice of yoga decreases the frequency of treatments I need. Yoga is the whole package: stress relief, balance, strengthening and relaxation all wrapped up in one deliciously nurturing package. There are yoga studios all over Las Vegas; I recommend trying one that has a class that focuses on relaxation, meditation or stress relief. Check out Yoga Sanctuary; they have classes for all levels.
